2010 Women's Division  President’s Message

Grace Kinley Tournament

Structure & Guidelines - Women's Division

Welcome to the 2010 golfing season. To all returning golfers, but particularly to those of you who are joining us for the first time, a special greeting. We were very pleased with the growing turnout we had last season. We strive to make Tuesdays both an enjoyable experience and one where you can test your game. So we welcome all golfers, no matter your level of play, to come out and meet some new people. I would like to remind you that you can play nine or eighteen holes – just come and play.

As a result of feedback from the survey conducted i
n the fall, we have tried to address your suggestions in order to make this coming summer even more successful. The Match Committee has once again provided weekly formats so that each Tuesday has a different configuration and mix of players. We will continue with the end of the month luncheons and prizes as this was very successful last year. In addition, there are the season long competitions such as the Maggie Baker Trophy and the Ringer Board. Please note the start times for each week, especially the end of the month shotgun starts times.

In August we will be hosting the Grace Kinley Tournament. This is a competitive event which is comprised of five South Shore clubs participating for a trophy and prizes. This tournament has had a long history of over forty years in the South Shore area. We would like to have full participation from our women’s division, particularly, since we are organizing the event.

There have been further improvements to the course throughout the fall. I am pleased to note that many of the improvements will impact play from the forward tees.

The opening luncheon will be May 25 and the annual closing of the Women’s Division is August 31. The last day of play will be September 21. The annual Chester Golf Club Awards evening is some time in early October.

All of the above plans have your enjoyment in mind so come out and join us!
