PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Fellow Members,
It is a humbling honor to take on the task of being the incoming president of the Chester Golf Club. The declaration by the Chronicle Herald this past summer that our club is the "best combination of golf and food in the province" - says it all. This recognition is a testament to the countless hours of effort by staff, volunteers and past Board members.
The focus I hope to bring to the role will be on member service and member enjoyment of the golf experience at the Chester Golf Club. Great improvements have been made to our clubhouse service and playing condition in the past few years, credit must be given to our current management and staff who have executed the priorities established by the Board.
The feedback from the member’s survey conducted this past year highlights what needs to be done to further enhance members’ enjoyment of this golf club. The results of the survey are clear and will serve as the basis on which our future priorities are set.
On-course the priorities include – continue to improve our greens and tees and to get on with installing proper on-course washroom facilities. The number one irritant that came through from members relates to speed of play. This issue is not unique to our club and unfortunately easy solutions are not at hand. The Board has heard the message and will make every attempt to improve this situation.
I would like to acknowledge all those who through the survey have offered to be volunteers. We have assembled a full list and have made everybody’s name available to all committee Chairs and as requirements arise, people will be contacted. It is indeed encouraging to know that our club has so many ready volunteers – "Many hands make light work".
I hope everyone will feel free to speak with me to discuss anything that can be done to further improve your enjoyment of our club.
Yours in golfing, Bob Fraser

General Manager/superintendent's MESSAGE
Let me begin by welcoming all members of Chester GC back for the 2010 golf season, and extending a special welcome to the new members joining our ranks this year. 2009 was another great year for Chester GC and the golf course continues to improve. Our new practice putting green was put in play in mid-June, and has received plenty of positive comments and a great deal of enjoyment ever since. In the fall of 2009 we embarked on some major tee rebuild projects on #2and #8. These new tee surfaces will increase the overall square footage, thus absorbing play better and will offer several new distances from which to play. We feel this can only enhance our coastal holes making them even more enjoyable for all. 2010 golf season, and extending a special welcome to the new members joining our ranks this year. 2009 was another great year for Chester GC and the golf course continues to improve. With regards to the management of Chester GC, I would like to personally thank and commend Chad Pearson and Barbara Fraughton. These two individuals continue to strengthen and improve the operation of their departments, and in many ways have become the face of the club. They have been a source of great help and support to me in my position as General Manager, and have done a wonderful job.
In closing, I can only say that my time here as GM/Supt. has been a wonderful and rewarding experience, and gets better with each passing year. I now feel confident in the future of Chester GC armed with the knowledge that we have assembled a dedicated team of management and staff, and we are so fortunate to possess a membership that clearly shares our passion and love for this incredible place that we are all so lucky to be a part of. I remain eternally grateful to have been given the opportunity to help lead Chester GC into the future, and I promise to do my best to ensure that this will continue to be a great place to golf as well as a great atmosphere to socialize with family and friends. See you on the links in 2010.

PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF GOLF CARTS
Members of the Chester Golf Club are able to apply to use a private golf cart, providing they have a medical reason and a signed doctor’s certificate along with an application form from the pro shop. There also has to be space available in the cart compound for storage. If no space is available the applicant will go on a waiting list. The cart has to be inspected and mechanically sound.
Cart Usage
Private carts are for the use of the designated applicant and their spouse or significant other based on the approval of the board.
Visiting golfers are permitted to use their own carts with prior approval of the pro shop and payment of a trail fee of $10.00 + HST. This will apply to recreational play as well as tournament play.
Insurance
The club will not be responsible for the insurance of the cart. The designated member will have to sign a waiver. Owners are to show a copy of their insurance policy to the pro shop.
Maintenance
Members are expected to keep their carts in safe and good working order. The club has the right to request to have a cart repaired to its satisfaction. When the repairs are completed to the satisfaction of the club, the cart will be allowed to return to the course.
Replacement
Cart owners have the right to replace their cart at any time. It must meet with pro shop requirements.
Trail Fees
The executive will set trail fees yearly, with input from the Tees and Greens Committee.
The committee looked at the amount of space available within the existing enclosure. We feel there are possibly 6 more free spaces. We should keep to this amount and use a waiting list for those who wish to apply for a cart.
Members who need a cart but have to wait for a parking space can utilize the coupons, which are more than generous.
The membership should be made aware of the coupons, and their value compared to owning and maintaining a private cart. The trail fee from family members will be deposited in an account to be used for trail upgrades.
