Golf Rules Videos

USGA offers 12 short videos  online and at no cost (!) that provide expert advice on how to proceed in a variety of situations commonly encountered on a course.

Have a peek - go to usga.org  then go to Rules, then Education to find the Rules of Golf videos. These videos are recommended by Golf Canada and the USGA for all juniors who wish to participate in tournaments.

Tuesday morning golf starts on Tuesday, May 16th.   You must sign up at least a week before.

Wednesday night golf starts on June 7th. You must sign up at least a week before. As many of you may not be at the course before June 1st Mary Ellen Hernden has indicated that you can send her an email to enter at: mehernden@eastlink.ca.

To join the Women’s league costs $10.00 for the year. Paying the $10.00 enables you to be eligible for prizes in the Tuesday league,  Match Play,  and you are eligible  to compete for the Provincial Bronze competition.  Also, this year everyone who joins before June 15th will be eligible to participate at no cost in a group chipping clinic that will be provided in the summer. There will be more than one clinic held and they will be at various times so that we are hopeful everyone will find a time that suits them. There are envelopes in the Women’s change room and the box to put your membership in. If you are not able to get to the club before June 15th and would like to participate in the clinic please send me your name and we will reserve a spot for you.

Match play was very popular last year. We will have different divisions in the singles so you will be competing against players at your own level.   It is a double knock out so you are guarantee two games. We are going to try and have as a maximum 9 in each division  so you will not have too many games. Also, the first games will be scheduled to start on June 15th with registration for the Match Play closing on June 1st. There will also be doubles match play offered.   If you would like to play in the Match play and cannot sign up at the club before June 1st please contact Marlene Warren at marlene.warren@icloud.com. Marlene has also indicated if you cannot start play by June 15th she will accommodate you if you can start by July 1st and just let her know.

Nan Varner who is the monthly host for September has indicated that she is going to take a well deserved break after this year. If you would like to join our team and would like to learn the ropes from Nan please contact her and she would love to work with you this summer with the intent of you taking over September next year. Nan has been a monthly host for many years and we cannot thank her enough for her contribution to our group.

I will be sending out email’s to hopefully keep you updated on events as they happen.

Again, welcome back and I look forward to seeing you all on the course.

Ruth Christian,

Women’s President
